Vibro Gym at Simple Radiance
What is Whole body vibration training?
Vibration is another word for trembling. We speak of vibration or trembling if a body moves periodically around an equilibrium. Periodically means that the motion is repeated in equal time intervals. Whole body vibration training makes use of a platform that moves periodically. The equilibrium is the middle position in which the platform stands if it is switched off.
How does Whole body vibration training work?
VibroGym generates vibrations that are transferred to your body. Standing on the VibroGym you will notice how your body automatically adjust to the mechanical stimuli responding with a stretch reflex. The effect of whole body vibration training very much depends on the frequency and intensity of the vibrations. Lower frequencies are very effective for strength training, the muscles are forced to contract more powerfully – this increases the training effect. Higher frequencies are used for recovery, warming up and cooling down because it increases the blood circulation and therefore accelerate the process of toxins leaving the body.
Almost 100% of the body’s muscles are exercised when using Whole body vibration training. Conventional training methods only reach 40-60%. The deeper lying muscles, e.g. postural muscles, benefit greatly from Whole body vibration training. Another major advantage of Whole body vibration training: muscles that are not used very frequently can often not be activated consciously.
Whole body vibration training reactivates these muscles by reflex. The effect: all muscles arestimulated. The vibrations have a positive impact on your hormone balance and help to reduce stress. You feel more relaxed, fitter and more alert. Within 10 minutes you can complete effective training of your entire body. This is possible because Whole body vibration training stimulates the whole muscular system at once and not one muscle after the other.
Where does Whole body vibration training come from?
Whole Body Vibration training technology is supported by over 40 years of scientific research, originating with the Soviet Space Program, which paved the way for the technology to be applied in the fields of health and fitness. Russian Scientists discovered that cosmonauts that spent extended amounts of time in space experienced significant loss in bone density and muscle tissue due to lack of gravity. In an effort to stop this loss, Russian researchers were led to experiment with Whole body vibration technology. They found that by using this equipment, they not only stopped the loss but amazingly they also increased bone density and strengthened muscle tissue!
Using Whole Body Vibration training technology the Russians were able to set a record of more than 420 days in Outer space! The American astronauts, training on conventional fitness equipment, were forced to cease their mission after just 120 days due to bone and muscle degeneration. It wasn’t until after the fall of the Iron Curtain, that Whole body vibration technology found its way to other countries.
The first country to manufacture a Whole body vibration training machine was Holland, the manufacturer was a company called: LATAM (Today known as VibroGym).
Today NASA alongside the health and fitness industry across the world have embraced Whole body vibration technology with tremendous success.
